Blockbuster (Doesn't) Drop Late Fees

I over heard a friend at work mention thi so as usually if something doesn't seem right I will have to find out more about it. Technically and literally yes there is no late fees but there is a Penalty Fee.

In a disingenuous announcement, Blockbuster has announced that it is (to quote the CNN article), "abolishing late fees on all its video tapes, DVDs, and video games as of Jan. 1." Sounds great, until you read down just a paragraph, where they explain that rented products will still have a due date. If you go past that due date by a week, Blockbuster will automatically charge the entire price of the game or movie to you, which you can contest for up to 30 days if you're willing to pay a "restocking fee."

I'm not saying that's an awful system, but it's not an abolishment of late fees at all.

I thought thats the system they had been using. I rented from block buster and loaned the movie to a friend... needless to say friend waited too long to give it back, and even though it was only three days late, they charged me what the movie was worth.

They change it alot. When you get a card it does say it can change policies without you knowing. I used to you could be up to a month before having to pay for the movie.
