Domains May Disappear After Search

It's getting more and more difficult to do any kind of domain research without running the risk of losing your domain ideas to unscrupulous domain tasters.

Back in February, we described the problem as follows:

• A perfect domain name pops into your mind.
• A quick check at your favorite domain registrar reveals that the domain is still available.
• For some reason, you put off the actual registration for a few days.
• And when you come back to finally register the domain, it's taken by someone else!

Back then, it took domain tasters "a few days" to intercept, analyze and register the domains that you came up with.

Now, it takes them less than 2 minutes.

Last week an associate of mine was bulk-checking 200+ generic typo domains through a software that shall remain unnamed for now. All of the domains were available. But less than 2 minutes later, more than 50 of the domains had been registered by a number of different offshore companies from the Bahamas.

There is no way this could be a coincidence. And if you read the more recent comments in the above mentioned article, it's clearer than ever before that there are severe leaks somewhere that allow domain tasters to compromise your domain searches and steal your domain ideas.

I know that fosure happens. Sin was going to buy wyntre.com for Wyntre but she never said anything about her wanting her own website or something, when she did he looked for it again and someone took it.

I wouldn't doubt it. people are generally uncreative as a whole and tend to leech onto those who are. But I don't understand why...other than to be shitty and keep someone else from having what they want.

Not all the time Sami. With millions of people are going to have the same ideas and thoughts sooner or later, just depends on when it happens. But there are alot of people that will steal your idea too. Especially with so many domain names taking up peopl are having to come up with alternatives way too often. People also like for other people to do the thinking for them.

Well that sucks donkey balls, but I guess it makes sense though. If everyone is having to go through up to like there 5th choice alot of names are going to get taking faster and faster. Better get them while you can.

Since a domain search sets off a lot of servers, I'm not surprised at all someone is tracking those servers looking for Domains people want to register...

It has to go through so many servers just to make sure the name is available and since it only takes 1 minute to register a domain name for some people.

I remember the first domain I bought. I felt so badass for a long ass time, had no idea what to do with it but I was on cloud 9 for a long time. Then I got another one which had a better ring to it and fit me more. Had that one for a few years. Then I lost it, Sin tried to remind me about it but I just was being lazy and forgot so I lost it and had to get another one then someone stole my old one .

I really should get off my ass and register the domains I want, but then i'd need to get off my ass and set up a website to attach to them...

Well you know you can just buy the domain and then wait til you have your site idea and then do it.

so everyone here has their own websites? I feel left out! I wanted to set one up when I was modeling but the friend that was going to do it for me got a girlfriend and became too busy for it. Oh well.

Not everyone, but a few people do. Spawnschick was the last one to get one I think, she learned alot so far, she can check on her site ratings and tell you how well its doing on search engines and a few other things.

I have 3 now but the 2nd one I'm having trouble with because of some shit. Sinny helped me keep my first ever. I was trying to get one of my name and I was robbed. Some bitch took it right after I was looking to see if its available.

It is true, I could just reserve the names first, but if I'm going to take that step, then I'm going to go all the way. Mind you all they will really be for the first part is my own chunk of webspace for hosting shit
