| Free iTunes at Starbucks To promote the new partnership with Apple and its wi-fi music store, Starbucks will be handing out 50 million iTunes songs to U.S. customers between October 2 and November 7, 2007. The new wi-fi Music Store features will be debuting at select Starbucks locations. This little bit of funness is free (free is always fun), and will allow anyone with an iPhone or iTouch that comes within range of the wi-fi music store to get access to whatever music Starbucks is currently playing. They’ll also be able to see the previous 10 songs. The wi-fi Music Stores should be available to nearly all Starbucks locations by 2009. So back to these 50 million free iTunes songs. As expected, they will be limited to the music that’s being promoted at Starbucks locations, as the “Song of the Day” gift. Artists will include Joni Mitchell, Joss Stone, John Mayer, Annie Lennox, Paul McCartney, Dave Matthews, and Band of Horses. In related news, Goombah held a Starbucks music contest earlier this summer. | |||

I can imagine they would like those artists. besides, aren't those the type of artists they plan in their normally? the couple of times i've been in there its always jazzy mellow stuff | |

| Bronze Soldier Sins: 467 Xations: 1% ![]() | Damn this was pointless. They pick bands no one listens to. Why on earth would you have a promotion using things no one would really care about. That would be like someone saying, rush oer now and we will give you a free penny. | |

| Paradox Sins: 3,847 Xations: 14% ![]() | They pick bands that people that go to Starbucks listen to, marketing genius really. There has long been a correlation between Apple, Starbucks and the kind of Artiste that listens to that particular brand of music. I know the MTV generation (can that be applied anymore?), MySpace gem and alt-music lovers will be puzzled, but I guarantee the level of success they are looking for. | |

| SiN-X Admin Sins: 2,320 Xations: 9% ![]() | I think the majority of people who listens to these music from these artist will proably make up about 10-20% of starbucks goers. I would love to do a servey on it. | |

| Platinum Squire Sins: 287 Xations: 0% ![]() | Damn I went there today and I didn't know anything about this stuff. They try to tell me about it and I asked them about the bands. My friends were all with me, the only thing we kept asking was you don't have anything more current and now. Totally a waste of a promotion. | |
