| Tag Radio Songs, Buy Later on iTunes A new service from iBiquity Digital, a company that develops HD radio technology, is teaming up with Apple and various radio broadcasters for tagging songs to be purchased at iTunes. This tool lets you “tag” songs with your HD radios that have been manufactured by Harman International Industries’ JBL unit, and Polk Audio. The service will then keep a running list of all the songs you’ve tagged, which are connected to your iTunes account. The next time you’re on iTunes, you’ll have a ready-made list of songs to purchase. So far, Clear Channel Communications has signed on board to work with this tagging feature, launching it across hundreds of stations. Several other unnamed broadcasters have signed on for this deal as well. It will be interesting to see how this technology can be expanded in more ways, with other HD technology and beyond. I think it’s a great way to find out what song you’re listening to on the radio, and gives the traditional media venue a good way to connect with Internet culture and provide more value to consumers. This may be a step in the right direction for maintaining and/or increasing ad revenue, according to an eMarketer report. While this set up does limit you to a small combination of participating companies, these companies are likewise limited to a small number of consumers. No doubt, this level of offline integration for some kind of instant gratification will be appealing to many, and can hopefully be extended to more devices, in more ways. We already see mobile phones outfitted with a semi-useful song recognition technology, and surely this setup can be incorporated with the iPhone in some fashion. | |||

Cost like 50cents or something per song identified mind you...

Although I hardly anywhere hearing a song I haven't heard a thousand times now. But even if you didnt' have an ipod who is really listening to the radio these days, pop a cd in and your set.

| SiN's Lil Slave Sins: 2,117 Xations: 20% ![]() | This rally sounds like it wasn't thought out that much. If you have an ipod most likely you not listening to the radio, and if you listening to the radio then most likely you don't have an ipod. People stupidity seems to be really growing and just throwing any idea out there and no seems to the catching the ones that need to stopped. | |

| Paradox Sins: 3,847 Xations: 14% ![]() | I think some people here just don't understand how much other people rely on the radio to inform them about new music out there, so they do indeed have an ipod but still listen to the Radio | |

I have no idea what cd's are in there since I haven't played them in forever, they may be warped by now. I just in the car, hit play on the ipod and I'm set.

| Paradox Sins: 3,847 Xations: 14% ![]() | I know of at least three people (not that I know all that many people mind you) that own an iPod but still willingly listen to the radio to find new stuff. myself, I rely on punk compilations, as the Atari's put it: "Every now and then I turn it on again, But it's plain to see that The radio still sucks!!!" | |

| Paradox Sins: 3,847 Xations: 14% ![]() | 99% of the radio I listen to is at work (which at my current job is oldies, think 60's/70's), which I 99% ignore since it's in the barber half of the shop, the other one percent is in other peoples vehicles. | |
