A concerned parent contacted us stating that Chuck E. Cheese in Sherman has applied for a permit to sell alcohol. You might have heard the slogan for Chuck E. Cheese "Where a Kid can be a Kid", and that's what this restaurant is geared towards, kids. But now some local residents are questioning the principles of this company.

Seventy percent of Chuck E. Cheese across America sell alcohol. And now the one in Sherman is asking for a permit to do the same. This leaves many parents wondering why you have to drink when you take your kids to a place which calls itself a magical place for family fun. Chuck E. Cheese Headquarters said its just a convenience for their adult guests, but others would beg to differ.

Carolyn Tapley, a concerned resident, laughed at the thought, "Chuck E. Cheese and alcohol?" Clift Wood another resident does not think it's a good idea, "I think probably kids are exposed enough without taking them to basically children's places and exposing them to liquor there." Ashley Earls was shocked, "That's shocking, it's suppose to be a place for children. There's no need for alcohol to be served there. I think that's very wrong."

Chuck E. Cheese released this statement, "It is our experience that our adult guests are very responsible consumers who are concerned about the safety of their children, so it is rare that we experience any issues related to the service of beer and wine." Chuck E. Cheese wants everyone to know they do not promote the consumption of beer and wine by advertising the products around their facilities and they only serve alcohol by the glass.

I think it's a great idea for those adults who are responsible enough to drink. Going to CEC was a bore b/c it's basically a kids place and nothing for adults. So, I think adding the beer and wine makes it a little better for parents.

This is really a bad idea. The second a parent puts their drink down the kids will be all over it. All it takes is 1 person to put a drink down and forget about it. Especially with kids all running around, shows, games there's too much to watch and you really shouldn't have or even the possibility of alcohol just sitting around for kids to drink up. I think they just trying to come up with another way to make more money.

Not sure how many of you who aren't parents actually been around kids for a long period of time. Those of you who babysit o take care of the nephews and stuff, its no where close to being the same. Parents may need a drink here and there but that's just the wrong place to have one at.
