The Next Site Update [2006]

Time to really make this official now since there is many threads about this subject. So to inform everyone. Yes there will be major site update. This will proably be the biggest update on the site. And we trying to make sure all the goodiess will be kept. Knowing there's always something lost in every upgrade. Let's go ahead and get on with it.

Actually this is teh goodnews. So far we have only found 1 feature currently on the site that will not carry over to the update. Gallery Pictures shown on Profiles. So far that is the only thing that will not carry over so far. This may be re-added later.

What's the Goodness Newness? All other features besides the one listested above will still be here. Gallery will be upgraded as well and no lost pictures. A new look. Although I think we all have totally got used to the SiN Blue. The site will change its look. Maybe not much but will be noticeable. Also you will be able come customize alot more to your liking on teh site. You will be able to set more of your own posting features you like more. Any other stuff will be figured out later on your own. And yes the speed of the site will be a little bit faster again.

Now one main feature that will be added is Member News Submissions and Member News Auto-Submissions. We will be explaining this feature after the update. But this feature means there will always be a new post atleast every hour if not less.

There will also be some added sections to the site for discussion and quirky shit. As well we have decided to start doing dedicated contest. on the site. Meaning you can win free stuff on a regular basis like MP3 Players, Computers, Clothing, Jewelry ...etc. This is pretty much the free stuff that Sin get on a daily basis. Yes if you didn't know how much free shit he get's regularly ask him how many camera's or chains other crap he has so much of and never used or take time to even look at.

Go ahead and ask your questions of discuss your thoughts. And we will post more in the thread if other major features will be added.

Hey that's great!

Personally I like the blue/black on SIN, I think it's classic. It flows with the artistic design and creation of the dragon and other art work or design on the site.

I think if you are wanting to add more color or change have it done to the website in other sections of the site or peoples profiles.

Thats my 0.02 cents.

I agree with Bonita. I like the site colors the way they are. I couldn't have said it better myself its classic. I know they his favorite colors but they work very well with each other. I do like the profile pics fromt he gallery but I can deal without it until you get tha to carry over, everything else I would think be alot better then waiting for that small feature.

New post every hour?!?!? Just makes me come back to the site more often but I already do that know.

Can you give a little info on the new sections coming?

The site will still have its black/blue look. Profiles will have options to change colors which will be totally selected by yourself.

Sinny, Raven and Nina are working on the gallery pics in profile, but no ETA on when that feature will be available.

Yes, the news section will be updated quite often, as well as members news. It will bring alot more internet items to the site to attempt in making this an all in one infomation site.

The new sections will stuff everyone can participate easily in. Since alot of it will be stuff we come across everyday in life you be able to put your thoughts about it.

When is this going to take place? I'm pretty much guessing we will still have all the safety stuff inplace. We will still have the arcade? Is there's some stuff from other sites that will be added back that we lost before?

What exactly is small stuff? Something small to you all may be a very big idea to us. I can deal with the pics not on the profile since you all will proably figure out something anyway to get them back on there. What kind of contest will you be having?

Are site changes really all that big of a deal. When most sites do them I never see much of a defference or any that really matter?

Actually suppose to take place soon when we know everything is going to be successful. Right now we are just testing migration then with will move the make a copy of the site and then update everything and test it for a while to make sure everything is working fine. After testing and everything is fine. We will just use teh update version of the site. This way update the site will only take the site offline for hopefully 5 mins but to be on the safe side, let's say 1hr. The only thing we are planning on adding to the site from older versions is the expansion part. Giving you all alot more access to make the site more of your own.

Small Stuff? Is usually color changes here and there. Or stuff like button changes and icons. Even if we said what the small stuff would be they usually become bigger stuff when everything is said and done. This is SiN by the way so expect the unexpected. Contest will be anything prom picture contest to scavaging hunts. Prices will be anything small to say a keychain or a piece of jewelry, to as big as TV's.

Normally they are a big deal. Reason why is that we hate having to update the site. Mainly becuase there is so much of a headache and it get's aggravating when things don't work out and we spend time trying to correct problems. As some of our older members can atest to that changes come rare to the site and can tell very quickly. We don't do this for small changes. We only update when there's signifigant gain.

If any calls Sinny house right now, no one may hear the phone ring. Even if someone does you proably wont be able to hear each other. They are all loud as hell right now. But let me get to the point.

Gallery uploads showing in profiles have been fix. Sinny happen to fix this earlier today. The wierdest thing about it is that he read through alot of code and could not find a solution. Then he read 1 file. Added a very small line of code and BAM its working. So we only waiting on a few more things to be test before the main test.

I can't wait to see what all you going to add to the site. And the new sections. I would get excited about the contest but I never win anything. Should I go ahead and upload new pics now or wait for the update?

Since the schedule time for the update is some time next month you can choose either to wait or not. It really doesn't make a difference. Similar to the last update where we just made a copy of the site instea of downloading the whole site everything will be safe (cross-fingers).

:Update:
Not sure who's idea it was. All members will have an option to connect their Sinxation.com to Myspace.com account. But don't expect much since myspace is surprising doesn't allow you to do or share much.

I can see alot of limitations to the myspace connection thing. Unless you put your files somewhere to host it for you, But it still would be a cool little feature. I like sinxation a hell of alot more then myspace. I LUV YOU GUYS!

:Update:

Finally Everyone will be able to edit their profiles colors settings. Their will be 2 ways of doing this. Expect and Standard. Expert is for everyone that's comfortable with CSS. Standard, Just choose the colors you want. Also remember that you will be able to choose the layout style you like aswell.

Oh that's cool Chello. So everyone will be able to make cool profiles and they all will look different. Chun-Li I agree, I like it alot better. I used to be on Xanga and I hated it after about a month. Myspace provided a lil more but really its so boring. Look at someone's profile is cool but all you can do is just read comments other people have. There's nothing else to do on the site but try and edit your profile where 1 error will screw up the whole thing.

I'll definitely be using the simple method. CSS is so much another language to me.
