Life is like a Cup of Coffee


You can lay in bed in the morning &
Let your "love" bring coffee to you,
As soon as she get's up and makes her own.

She'll pour sugar into it
Add the cream too
Warm it just a 'wittull-bit'
In the microwave
All for you?
For herself?
Or for you too?

Now what about you?
Like me?
Get up and get
Your own coffee?
Drink it black?
One sip at a time?
No alterations
To confuse your taste buds?
No altercations between
You and yourself?

Life is like a cup of coffee
Without sugar is bitter, true,
Yet still drinkable if you drink it
One sip at a time
Try and chug that cup all down
At once an
What happens?

Now coffee with sugar and milk
Luke-warm and chugable
Yet what is left over
In the bottom of the cup?

A pile of sugar that refuses
To let go
Unless you tip the cup
Lean back your head
And wait patiently...forever
Will you choke on it?
When finally it falls
Into your throat?
