| Paradox Sins: 3,847 Xations: 14% ![]() | There are a fair number of people year to year that ignore the fines and late fees of libraries and video rental places, these system exist so that they can recoup their losses if the material is never returned and as an incentive to return the material so someone else can use it (blockbuster up here had implemented a no late fee system that ended up costing them millions). I bet next time she thinks twice about not paying her fees | |

| Paradox Sins: 3,847 Xations: 14% ![]() | And people would become accustomed to it being ok to run up fines or just outright not return materials in the end costing those that rent out items many more times what it cost to make an example that it will not be tolerated. | |

| Paradox Sins: 3,847 Xations: 14% ![]() | Exactly, but some people just take the fines for granted, after all they were only late because "insert pathetic excuse here" and yes the excuse is usually pathetic, and I've known my library to reverse fines for legitimate reasons. | |
