    Update do for PS3/wii browser?

I realize it's not a PC, but it's time to resplve a few issues withthe PS3 browser, especially in regaurds to mutli window/frame brwosing (and how crash prone it becomes) inccesset plugin nagging, and a flash update so Facebook and Youtube (very popular sites) are fully usable

Also my wii has better flash support but the thing that hurts me using it is no mouse (but then I have to use the controller still on the PS3 with multiple windows) or multiple windows and really large pages (it's also slower on single pages).

Maybe this is why MS stuill has not put IE on the 360 (outside of fear of hacking mind you)

Well technically, they're gaming systems that have the option of going online and things like that. Their primary use is supposed to be a gaming system with a cool feature of going online to your favorite sites. Even so, I do know a few people that use it as more of a computer than a gaming system. I think it's along the lines of incentive for Sony and Nintendo. What's the point for making an easier, and better browser? For PS3, I know more people that will buy it as more of a gaming/bluray combo than for it's internet capabilities. And I don't know anyone who owns a Wii that like to use it for going online to things. If anything, everyone I know who has a Wii is using it in place of a gym. Now if 360 came out suddenly with an amazing IE update for the 360, then Sony would quickly make something better and Nintendo as well. But as it stands, I doubt there's any reason to delicate a team to making anything more user friendly.
I said I hope, like a prayer and sent out my tears in a bottle of notes.

Don't expect the Wii browsers to change much or get comfortable. It's only been updated once since it was developed. Also it went from free to pay software which you thin would mean ok so it should be getting better, nope sorry. I use the PS3 browser here and they but I just use a usb mouse and keyboard and it makes i alot easier although sometimes it seems to render pages very slowly if they use alotof javascript on a site. I dont think here will be an Ie on 360 for a while, since they only add stuff most that they can charge for. So you would still have to have a gold account just browse the internet. There's a post about that on this site I think of something they passed on becuase the developers didn't want people to be charged for it and microsof want to charge for it.

First off the Wii browser received two updates, the first was minor bug fixes and came when it went pay to DL (as it was no longer 'beta') the second was pretty substantial in vastlly improved flash support (flash runs as well as you could hope for the hardware limitations) and big improvments in speed and reliability (I can barely crash it anymore), also they made it free reimbursing anyone who did DL it after it went pay to DL the 500 points. The only issue remaining is media content specifically movies.
The PS3 browser has recived many touch up's to its interface but they seem to ignore how bad once again "the most high end hardware you can buy" is at doing something as simple as browsing effectively (my old 850 Athlon still kicks it's ass every which way, 1/4 the clock speed, half the 'standard'cores and running the incredibly bloated XP on the same core (the PS3 OS runs mostly on one of the SSE's segemented off so as to not use precious resources)). What it comes down to is bad programming and like Selene said, they probably fdon't care cause it's for gaming, but they do sellit as the system that "only does everything" provided you don't want anything done well...
As for IE (or something like) ont he 360 no coming cause they'd have to charge... the 360 is chock full of apps that are free already to access social networks and some other things, I think it's really jsut a lack of demand and MS knows they'd be opening a huge security hole in the 360.
Also I don't use my mouse for the PS3 like the Wii I use the controller as it's just easier, though I use the same KB for both and prefer the KB short cuts on the Wii browser... Just the browser is only single tab...

Hsoolien I hae to disagree with you on that one but there is no really free apps on the Xbox 360 because to use them all you need to have a gold account which isn't free. This is why some developers do not have anything on the 360 before they wanted to give out their product freely to the users. Microsof stance has firmly been to use online features 95% of the time you need to be a gold member.

That $50 a year isn't much but as started it's not free. I'm kind o surprised you need a gold account just to use netflicks.

Atleast you guys get netflicks. up here in canada we dont get it. we get some movie rentals but not many good ones.

I've always had my gold so I never hit that limitation, and when I play PS3 online to 360 online, I can see that it's 50$ a year well spent.

For me I didn't see it as well spent. On pl3 you can just talking to people all day long without ever having a game. I know the 360 will have that later on but its been on the ps3 for well over a eyar now. It's been alot more social for me. Also in the US there's free streaming movies. Select I was classify as alright to mediocore but then that just may be taste. The free porn streaming is however wonderful lol. My gold account died some time ago and I can honestly say I haven't missed a single thing from it.

I keep it for the rare time I game online (since my ps3 online gaming has always been bad every time Ive tried, from laggy, to outright refusal to connect. the Wii's wifi is better in my experience and it has the pain in the ass of no chat and friends codes different for every game. Also having a demo for everything you can purchase ( game wise) on Live is GREAT, I have no clue how many gems I'm missing out on due to lack of demos with the PS3

i know LIVE has a chat thing now since the last big update with the avatars. you can make a group and your friends dont even need to be in the same game. or in multiple games. and a gold you get demos before silver. and you get weekly deals on DLC and you can play online. I think gold is worth the money, but you dont need to have it. you can still go a lot of this but you just dont get the onloine play and you got to wait longer to get things.

I never do DLC stuff so it never bother me. I do like the photoshare option for the 360. Alot of the free 360 stuff is hidden or removed and you got to hunt for alot of it now/ That dorito's game is fun.

I don't know. The only game on 360 that uses Live I could play on PC so I just never bothered to shell out the money. Not to mention I was going to have to buy the game, pay for Live, and pay a monthly fee for the multiplayer part of the game. I enjoy PSN because like Dream said, it was amazingly social and the games I wanted to play on I was just socializing with friends. I'm not so hardcore into co-op so 360 can't appeal to me too much. But PSN lets me play my little game and chat with friends all at once or watch Netflicks and say hi to my friends on the other side of the country. Home is rather fun with the little mini games and funny just to sit and watch as it's like an online chat room with men swarming female avatars.

Yes, I really wish PS3 would update their browser. At one point I was using it as my replacement for TV since Digital TV did not work in the part of California I was at. The little small mountain town wasn't close to any tower and I don't watch TV enough to get cable. Hulu was the nice go between but when it updated and the PS3 didn't, I didn't have that option anymore. Pretty much just Megavideo. But Megavideo and Netflicks are pretty awesome subs so it all worked out.

I can hardly tell the difference in my oppion but I guess whatever makes him happy.. ive only played2 games so far that I seem to like so far..1.Resident Evil 5 and 2. Bayonetta I love that one !!! so if ya got ps3 let me know so i can give ya my gamer id lol
