| Cingular retention deals Please read very carefully. This is not a deal or a special. This is method to getting free from cingular but I'm not saying its going to work for everyone. Me and Sinny worked hard on this to see if it was possible and what could be gain from this. We also try this with a few friends of ours and we got a couple of different results, so don't assume you get the same offer we got. Yours may be more or less or they could possibly none at all. My 2 year contract with Cingular ended last month. I called Cingular and talked to rep with no results until I told her I wanted to cancel and she sent me to a different department. Once there I told the rep about Cingular deals on phones offered at Amazon. Eventually, the rep offered (I need family plan): 2 year contract * 2 free RAZRs * 1 year of NW starting at 7 PM instead of 9 PM (usually cost ~$15/month) 1 year contract * Choice of (pick 2) Nokia 6102i, Sony Ericsson Z525a, Samsung D407, or LG CG225 * Instead of one of the phones listed above, I could get RAZR for $99.99 each. * 1 year of NW starting at 7 PM instead of 9 PM (usually cost ~$15/month) I told him I would go 2 years if he did the NW at 7 for 2 years. He insisted he could only do it for 1 year. That is when I started talking about the 1 year plans and what phones I could get for free. He said he could not change minutes on plans. I tried to get him to give me text messaging package but he wouldn't do it. 1) Are the deals he offered me warm or hot? 2) Also, do you all think 1 year or 2 years is the better deal? I'm leaning more toward 1 year and doing it all again next year when the year is up. 3) If you think 1 year is the way to go, is it worth it to buy the RAZR? 4) If you think 2 years is the way to go, what phone would you get instead of RAZR (only phones that are offered at Cingular for same price as RAZR please)? Thanks for your help. SiNARIO 2: Called this morning: Offered 2 years same as above but with Treo 650 for $99.99, SLVR $49.99, RAZR still free but with NW @ 7 for 24 months and 100 free text messages a month. Which phone would you all go with? SiNARIO 3: Well they tried to tell me that they couldn't honor what the rep told me before and tried giving me the deal I posted first. What happened is the guy that offered deals in the first update got disconnected. I called back and the people I spoke with said that they can't do it. I spent an hour on phone with these dimwits. I hung up and called back. Told them I wanted to cancel service. Got cancellation department. The guy there wouldn't budge either. I threatened to cancel and he actually set up a date and time to cancel! I then told him how frustrating it has been to go through all of this. I asked for supervisor. Suddenly, things started happening. End result for a 2 year contract: * Got the SLVR L7 for $49.99 and a RAZR V3 for free. * 7 PM nights and weekends for 24 months * 100 free text messages on one account Pretty slick for me considering my wife and I have piece of junk phones currently and are paying $59.99 plus $9.99 for service (although service right now is for AT&T wireless and I had 1050 minutes, NW @ 7 unlimited). I will now be on Family 550 plan. I know it's less minutes but I only use 500 minutes a month max right now anyway. Plus with rollover I will end up with a lot more minutes within a few months anyway. I'll be getting way better phones and paying ~$10 less per month and getting 100 text messages thrown in. Pretty sinful for us. Quote:
