| Mom: Motherhood Is 'Boring' It's the headline that captured the attention of women everywhere. A journalist and mother of two says flat-out that motherhood is boring. That's right, mind-numbingly boring. So how are other mothers relating? It sounds nearly sacrilegious. What mother would think, the most important job in the world, is boring. Let alone admit it. Helen Kirwan-Taylor of London's The Daily Mail admitted what she calls "a secret guarded, if not until death, then until someone else confesses first." "I would rather go shopping than go to a birthday party," said Lee. Qtsha Lee admitted it in the park, but British writer, Helen Kirwan-Taylor, blasted it in headlines, declaring "My children bore me.” For the record, her sons are 12 and 10. She loves them both dearly, but hates to watch compete in sports or take to birthday parties. Kirwan-Taylor has even admitted to paying her nanny overtime to read them bedtime stories. "This is the hardest job I have ever had in my life. And there is nothing boring about it," said Ziv. Not with a four year old who loves ice cream. But Patrice Ziv, a mother of a four-year-old and two-year-old twins, feels sorry for Kirwan-Taylor's children. "Because she's not feeling fulfilled. And if you're not fulfilled as a Mom, you can't be a good one," said Ziv. "When they say it's boring, it's because they're frustrated," said Eileen Daniels, a mother of three grown children. Dr. Stephen Treat believes the frustration has to do with setting boundaries; it's not healthy for your life to be child-centric. "The child feels like the world is going to revolve around them which doesn’t happen as we all know as we get older. And it will hurt the parent because they'll lose the ability to say this what I need," said Dr. Stephen Treat, Director of Council For Relationships in Philadelphia. Still, these moms just find pure joy in their motherhood. “I think Motherhood is a daily adventure. Everyday is different," said young mother Linda Inverso. Linda's sister Kim Capie agrees. "It's definitely rewarding. It's the best job you'll ever have," said Capie. | |||
