| Sales Tax Holiday [August 5-7, 2005] Texas shoppers get a break from state and local sales taxes on August 5, 6, and 7--the state's seventh annual tax holiday. Lay-away plans can be used again this year to take advantage of the sales tax holiday. The law exempts most clothing and footwear priced under $100 from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend. A word of caution: If you sell items that do not qualify for the exemption, you may not advertise or promise that you will pay your customers' sales tax. Additionally, you are prohibited from advertising that you will not collect sales tax during the holiday on items that do not qualify. You may advertise that tax is included in the sales price of the taxable items that you sell, however. | |||

| Platinum Squire Sins: 275 Xations: 0% ![]() | Didn't use it. Most prices were hiked up before the holiday and if you think about it, in Texas you would have to spend $100 just to save $8. I think this was big som time ago but if you buy online most of the tim you don't pay sales tax and can get free shipping and also better prices. | |

| Bronze Knight Sins: 603 Xations: 0% ![]() | I know. Most stores jack up their prices and take everything off sale so they can make up for the tax free w/e. And yea, saving $ 8 per $ 100 is NOT all that much | |

| Paradox Sins: 3,847 Xations: 14% ![]() | It's 8% ![]() We only pay the national GST in my province (7%), but most other provinces have a 5-9% tax on top of that, I live in the cheapest province tax wise (thank god, government wastes it anyways) | |
