| Man has permanent erection A Czech prisoner locked up on theft charges has been freed and allowed to go back home to his wife after getting a permanent erection. The 37-year-old man was serving a six month sentence in Plzen jail in the southwest of the country - and woke wardens in the early hours of the morning complaining he had an erection that would not go away. He told staff it was extremely painful and after prison doctors called to examine the erect member were unable to help, the man had to be taken to a specialist hospital in Prague where surgeons were forced to operate to treat the problem. They said the man had been suffering from a rare condition known as priapismus in which blood becomes trapped in the penis during an erection and can only be treated through immediate surgery, local daily Pravo reported. After surgery however the man was allowed to go home where medical experts said he would be better off being cared for by his wife than in the prison hospital. | |||

If they have suffered a traumatic injury and their vital signs are failing, one way to know they are going into shock is a permanent erection though they are unconcious. Sounds funny, but when you see a dying man like that, it gets serious really quick

I cant wait to do my med-school and do my ER rotation! ...now that will be a site to see. This shit is quite funny though.

If you are unfamiliar with the medical terminology of the situation I could see how it would be funny, but believe me when you pick up a trauma patient who is experiencing Priapism I guarantee you'll want to cry. It's Painful

And its easy to spot (major hardon action! )out unlike other things that are very internal and are at time hard to locate whats wrong. You gotta find out whats wrong before you can fix the person...its not to have external things that can show, makes treating a person just a bit faster and possibly easier.
