Dreanna's Computer Goes Boom

Dreanna's computer went boom boom this weekend. Dell told her its her motherboard and to remove the harddrive from the computer and send it in to them. She said it will be about 2 weeks for her to be without a computer.

yeah me too what does the harddrive have to do with her mother board going boom boom, can you tell Dreanna for me that its best to go see if Fry's or Micro Center has a compatible motherboard and not to send her harddrive to Dell, I usually go to Micro Center to buy parts for Dell computers here at my job so she might find a compatible motherboard for her dell computer oh and that I feel bad about her not having a computer I hope she finds the part so her computer gets fixed soon

i think she means, the motherboard is shot so remove your harddrive and send in the computer, everything but the harddrive.

I believe it's a privacy issues, there were some problems with techies getting a persons computer and in unintentional infringement of constitutional rights finding illegal material and reporting it. Companies got sued, and now everyone is more careful

Nope lol it clearly says up at the top to remove the harddrive and send it to them, they don't say send the computer without the hard drive, but if that's what they mean they should say so

Yeah I type it out wrong. She suppose to send everything but the hardrive into the Dell for them to fix.

Hsoolien is right about the privacy issue on hardrives is part of the issue, that is the offical word. but also if the Drive gets damage or needs formating or somthing like that then dell is not responable for anything on the harddrive. Dell is covering their asses. i have had to deal withi issues where a customer got a virus and told them about a format and how it wipes all info, and then we do it and they are pissed that all there porn is gone. when i clearly told them what was going to happen. that is also why Dell does not help people back up data, if something goes wrong then Dell is liable for the data.

lol oh in that case cool, but why not just buy the motherboard here and have someone install it for her that way she won't have to wait 2 weeks to get it back

Knowing Dreanna it still on warranty and that would be the reason for it, but don't know many people tha actually get warranty with Dell computers.
