| I'm not gonna get into specifics, but that is all a load of horse crap. A bible in every school would not stop 9/11. Murderers have existed for centuries, and some very horrible things have been done in the name of God (Crusades, Slavery, pre-revolution France).
Childern today suffer form the fact that people are so obssesed with their image and standing these days they don't have the time to properly pay attention to the rearing of their child. And it's stong christian societies that tend to lean most strongly to crass commercialism.(sp?).
Religion is a form of control, used by those with money and power to keep money and power out of the hands of everyone else.
It was used buy the Catholic church in the 1400's to control the peasent class
It's used today by the Bush Regime today, they'll protect your moral and ethical laws gainst abortion and gay marriage, and fight the holy war in Iraq to defend your right to buy your gas guzzling SUV's. Meanwhile he rapes the american economy in the name of god and the poor get poorer and the rich get richer.
People do not need a god or church to be a good person. they need a society that punishes crimes against humanity (hate crimes, murder, property crimes) and is less focused on material wealth. Most middle european countries have very relaxed religious viws, they are by most religions morraly corupt, and sinners to a t. but crime is lowest in these same countries (per capita) |
